Dressing Appropriately for The Cold

Hellooo people! So, this outfit was actually for the day I went out for my birthday dinner thing with my cousins, (I say dinner thing because 'dinner' simply sounds waaay too posh for what it actually was and I'm not a posh chick lool, we simply went to eat american style wings at Brick Lane :). Initially I had a super elaborate outfit planned out, meaning a maxi skirt or maxi dress which are brand new and still have not worn, but it was raining that day, which also meant I couldn't wear my heels, for safety issues and because all the shoes that would have gone with this outfit were all open and I wanted to walk as fast as I could to get to the station and back in order to escape the rain (though I did have an umbrella). However, I went with these kitten heeled shoes which went perfectly with my outfit, BUT, they were slingback's, so no back part to it ;) (I can't help it guuuuuys!)

Wearing layers and still being able to pull of a 'nice' outfit is quite hard, because they tend to get covered up by the coat/ or layer you wear on top, which is why I consider this one 'successful', because I'm wearing a shirt, jumper and coat all in one go, without having it totally covered simply because of the way the coat is designed. I very rarely close my coats even if I'm feeling cold, not because I want to show off my outfit, it's because I don't like the feeling of feeling like I'm being suffocated :s

Usually when I have a collar that I want to show I find it really hard to show my collar at the same time as wearing my Hijab the way I usually do, because the part you see in the picture that is twisted I usually pin that over to my opposite shoulder, so you might think I've done my Hijab in a fancy way, but I seriously haven't, I only do that when I want to show a design of some sort around the neck area, and then when in the process of doing my Hijab, I end up not knowing what to do with the hanging part and just leave it pinned down, instead of taking it over my opposite shoulder. I'm mentioning this because, I don't in any way think my Hijab is a fashion statement, I think that's the most wrong thing that the Hijab can be viewed as, otherwise I'd try and do the 'turban' style or any other style, but I don't want to because I feel weird like that and I personally feel like it wouldn't cover me up as much as this way does.

My belt is a sort of faux suede (I think??) but it's double sided which I realised until very recently, after wearing it :| But, I bought it from Asos, and I must say I love it because it's quite long, which meant I was able to actually tie it into a bow. Another good thing about it is that, I have a few belts which are jewelled, so I couldn't wear them with everything otherwise my outfits would become 'too much' or simple didn't go well with a lot of my outfits, so this was perfect for any outfit that you wanted to use a belt for you waist.

I've put these pictures up, because my second eldest sister took my pictures after a loooong time, and she's amazing at it! The thing is, I care about more of showing my outfit and a little less of the background (however I've become more conscious about it than before), but these sort of 'artistic' photo's I never would usually take because they don't show my outfit properly, but since my sister loved them and don't get me wrong I do too, they are really good, but a lot of people don't appreciate it on Instagram, but they like all the other ones which are really not that great :|, so I decided to put in on my blog!

Hope you enjoyed the post! Make sure to come back for another real soon! :)

Shades of Red

Hi everyone! I know I wore this outfit aaaages ago, but I forgot that I had left the images as a draft post on my blog (oops), but I didn't want to not put it up because I really liked my dress here. So, this dress sort of 70's style which is everywhere now and recently I've been shopping on YesStyle as well as adding things into my wish list and I didn't even realise I saved a lot of dresses like this and almost bought a very similar one to this, but luckily I remembered I have this lool. I was a bit worried that it would look funny because it's not maxi or short, it's midi and I've always thought that midi pieces always look nice only when you wear tights or who don't wear anything underneath. However, with these lengths I always end up wearing my skinny trousers that I've had for years now, from Bershka, but the only issue I have with these is that, they are fitted around my thighs and then when it gets to the calves it's much more loose. But, if I may say so myself, I got away with it, with the outfit still looking nice and all, especially the fact that I wear Hijab, I guess it let's me off easy, also I guess it's better this way for modesty purposes and all :)

As you may know already (depending on whether you've read my instagram comments when I've posted pictures or read my previous blog posts), I LOVE bell sleeve, puff sleeves, flare sleeves any of that sort of sleeved blouses and they are the best things to wear underneath pieces such as this dress, which is very open and completely sleeveless. this specific one I've had for years now and I always end up going back to it even though I have others, because it's silky and not too puffy.

I have been wanting a new style of necklace for a long time now, because I got sick of my necklaces that I have currently as they are all quite similar, you know diamondy and huge (though now, at this moment I still love them), but I saw this in Zara and just fell in love, but I guess this necklace is a love or laugh sort of one, meaning either you love it or people will be like "seriously what are you wearing?" and I've had that, but I still love it! I don't mind when people say that though because everyone has their own tastes and opinions, though I think sometimes you need to think that what you say might hurt other people who are more timid, if you know what I mean.

Ahhh, I forgot, but there was an issue with this dress and it was that the shoulders were HUGE, so huge that I had to safety pin them down to my blouse, but even my blouse is loose so it was still dropping down, which means I should have pinned it all the way down to my bra straps (which I have done before :), ahhh the things you have to do sometimes to wear what you want). Also this dress was a small size :| and still so big!

I have brought my leopard print coat back out again, which I had bought a few years ago from the Zara sale and even though the white parts have really not been white at all, I don't care, I'll still wear it. The funny thing is even now I don't tend to like animal prints, because I used to feel it can look very tacky and I do think the same now, but you have to look at the print carefully and this one didn't seem tacky at all to me, hence the reason of me buying it and wearing it all the the time, despite it being dirty. Recently, I really am liking snake print (which I never imagined I'd like ever in my life! But it's mainly in the shoes).

My dress was from Forever 21 which I bought not too long ago, I think a few months ago, so it could still be there and it was really cheap, I think around £15, but that and the necklace (from Zara) are the only things in this outfit which I bought fairly recently, hope that helps.

Thank you for reading :) hope you'll be back for the next one which is also in a draft lool.

Eid- Ul- Adha 2015

Hi everyone! It's not that late since eid happened, which is a record for me for the quickest upload for an outfit I've done that I can remember, which clearly indicates I have to start doing a better job. Anyways back to the outfit, this is what I wore for Eid and what my family usually do, is, for the first eid (Eid-Ul-Fitr), we wear asian clothes, what we would call salwar kameez, which come in various styles such as an anarkali, which seems to be the craze for the past 5 years :| and that's all we tend to wear. But for the second eid of the year, my family tend to wear, what we could call 'english clothes' looool, and since it's Eid I wanted to wear something 'WOW'. However, there is always the issue of, when buying something 'WOW' there is never really any other occasion for me to wear it to again, so the money (metaphorically speaking) just sits in the wardrobe, but I just can't get myself to wear something 'normal' on eid, so maybe the plan might be for next year (inshallah) is to spend more money on a nice set of PJ's, because on the day or the day after the cousins tend to stay overnight and that's when we start having proper fun, but let's see what happens (personally I think I'll buy a set of PJ's but also buy something nice to wear but not as elaborate as this :) ).

As you can see my dress is literally a ball gown, so I named myself 'The Hijabi Cinderella' or it could be anything else along those lines, so if you come up with anything feel free to do so and tell me :D I was very unsure of whether I would wear it or not because I just felt like it was tooooo much and then I thought, you know what, life's all about taking risks (It sounds like this is some HUGE risk, but I just tend to make it sound worse in my head), and I don't want to regret not having worn it. Also, you'll always look back on what you've worn, but not everything will turn out AMAZING you know, so it's nice to see what I've done in the past whether it be nice or not so nice :)

I bought this clutch quite a few years ago and I think I'll always keep it, because it will forever be one of those pieces which is just priceless, because of the intricacy of the design, I mean it's not anything designer, it was from Topshop, but I'll always love it. It really comes in handy for special occasions, so it's good to have 1 or 2 of those occasional pieces for times like these.

I didn't buy any new jewellery because we have plenty at home belonging to me and my mum, so I wore a mix and match of whatever I felt like, even if it didn't make sense :) But, guys check out the sleeves of my blouse, it's just sooooooo stunning! You know I'm a sucker for any sort of bell sleeve and this blouse is soooo nice with the victorian style of it, with the high neck and all. However, I wore an additional top underneath my blouse because the sleeves were see through and even though they put another layer through the front it was still see through at the back, all the more reason I bought an additional top to wear underneath, because even though my back's covered by the dress here, if I want to wear it just by itself then I HAVE to wear something underneath, so basically the point is, the under top was a good investment, which was simply a basic top in Zara, but you can probably go to any shop and buy a basic top. The one I bought was a lighter material, since I'm layering it would be too hot and it still was, ahhhh the life of trying to keep it modest (not that I mind, some people won't even bother buying a certain piece of clothing because they'd have to wear a top underneath, but I will do anything to wear it if I really liked it :) )

You can't see my shoes with this dress because it's so long, so I pulled it up just for the picture and I bought these because I'll keep it for occasional wear, which I don't tend to have and it's stunning and actually easy to walk in, because the lace makes it secure around your feet. If you've seen my Instagram, these are the same shoes that I wore which were blue with flower prints, but just the gold plain version of it (clearly I liked them very much).

I kept my make-up simple, and not bright or dark, so that it went with the elegant feel of the whole outfit.

Me posing on the bench :)

Dress is on sale, and I had bought it on sale as well (not for those of you guys who are under 5'5 because that's my height rounded up and with heels, my feet were still covered so when I went into the house it was a struggle walking around, holding it up slightly all the time: http://www.asos.com/asos/asos-salon-ball-gown-with-embellished-flowers-dress/prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4886485&clr=Multi&SearchQuery=asks+ball+gown&SearchRedirect=true

Thanks guys for reading, stay tuned for more hopefully :)
